FAQs

What seasoning is good on pork chops? ›

Best Seasoning for Pork Chops

Thyme and sage add herby and floral notes complementing pork's flavor exceptionally well. There's also a combination of smoked paprika, pepper, and a little bit of cayenne pepper, which all give your pork chops a lovely, not overly spicy, kiss of heat.

Is it better to cook pork chops in butter or oil? ›

I use both! At the same time! The butter helps achieve that golden brown color and adds more flavor, but you need the oil, too, because it has a higher smoke point and keeps the butter from burning. How long do you cook pork chops in a frying pan?

How long does it take to cook pork chops on a Blackstone? ›

How long should I cook pork chops on a Blackstone? Cooking times may vary depending on the thickness of the pork chops, but on average, you can cook them for about 6-8 minutes per side.

What is the best method to cook pork chops? ›

A quick turn in a hot pan followed by a little time in the oven is another great way to cook pork chops. You build color and flavor in the skillet, then hand the cooking over to the oven, which gives you time to prep the rest of the meal.

Should you season pork chops before grilling? ›

Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels, season both sides with salt, pepper and a spice rub if you'd like, then brush them with oil. Sear the chops on the hot side of the grill and let them cook until they easily release without sticking, about 4 minutes.

How to season pork chops for griddle? ›

Mix together the salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Season the pork chops on both sides. Lay down some oil on the griddle and let it get good and hot. Put the chops down and leave them alone for a few minutes until the bottom is brown.

Is it better to bake or pan fry pork chops? ›

While there are a number of ways to cook pork chops for dinner, baking is arguably the easiest path to perfection. The hands-off cooking method cooks pork chops gently and evenly without the need for extra fat, resulting in juicy, healthier pork chops that pair well with practically any side dish.

What is the best way to cook pork chops so they are not tough? ›

First, we sear one side of the chops until browned, flip them, turn the heat to low, and cover the skillet with a lid. The second side will slowly turn golden brown, and since we added the lid, the heat from the pan will gently cook the middle. By gently cooking the chops this way, they stay juicy and become tender.

Should pork chops be cooked slow or fast? ›

Since pork chops are often on the thin side, they need to cook quickly to prevent drying out. After brining or marinating, let the pork chops reach room temperature before cooking. This reduces your cooking time.

Why are my pan fried pork chops tough? ›

Because pork chops are such a lean cut, they are relatively quick-cooking and prone to overcooking. When they're cooked for even a few minutes too long, whether it's in the oven or on the stovetop or grill, they're quick to dry out, and — you guessed it — become tough, chewy, and less than appealing.

Should you cover pork chops when frying? ›

Preheat the skillet over medium-high heat until very hot. Add meat. Don't add any liquid and don't cover the skillet. Reduce the heat to medium and cook until internal temperature registers 145°F on an instant-read thermometer (for ¾- to 1-inch-thick chops, plan on 6 to 10 minutes), turning meat occasionally.

What's the best way to cook pork chops on a griddle? ›

Shake marinade off chops into bag and place onto hot griddle. Sear for 2-4 minutes on each side. Using an instant read thermometer, check temperature of pork chops in the center. Remove pork chops from the griddle when the internal temperature reaches 135°F.

What is heat to cook pork chops on a griddle? ›

Step 2: Cooking the pork chops

Preheat the griddle to 375- to 400-degrees. Add some oil for cooking and place the parmesan crusted pork chops on the griddle. Cook for about 3-5 minutes to form a nice crust on one side then flip. Repeat the process.

How long to grill pork chop on griddle? ›

Place the chops onto the screaming hot griddle and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until cooked through, turning every 2 minutes.

What temperature do you griddle pork chops? ›

It's important for the pork to reach 145°F (63°C) to develop the proper texture with the muscle fibers and fat and to be safe to eat, but really no higher. Stay away from the higher temperature ranges that will leave the pork irreversibly tough and dry.
