What’s In Blackened Seasoning?

The good news is that you can easily make Blackened Seasoning from ingredients you likely already have in your spice rack at home. You’ll need the following spices to make Blackened Seasoning: paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, black pepper, cayenne pepper, oregano, and salt.

I have been wanting to share homemade seasoning mixes for some time. This is the first in what I hope to be a number of homemade spice blends. After all, making your own seasoning mixes with a mosaic of flavors is one of the goals of Flavor Mosaic.

What’s Not In Blackened Seasoning?

No Artificial Flavors or Ingredients

When you make your own spices you know what is in that spice blend and what isnot. There areno artificial flavors or preservatives or anything else you don’t want.

I originally started making my own spice blends when I was told by the doctor that I needed to reduce my sodium intake. At the time it was easier to find low-fat foods than low sodium foods. I did not add extra salt to my food. However, it is included in most packaged or canned food.

By making my own seasoning mixes, such as this Cajun Blackening Seasoning Recipe, I have been able to reduce my salt intake. You will notice my recipe makes salt optional.

Save Money

Another benefit to making your own Blackened seasoning blend is that you can save money. Most of these seasoning mixes use spices that you most likely have in your pantry. It takes only 5 minutes to make this seasoning mix, and it tastes better than store-bought. I can’t eat packaged Cajun Seasoning Mix because it tastes too salty to me.

Making your own Cajun Blackening Seasoning Recipe will also save money, reduce unwanted artificial preservatives and chemicals that are in packaged seasoning blends, and allow you to adjust the seasoning to your taste.

Customize The Blackened Seasoning to Your Taste

Maybe you want to increase the garlic powder or reduce the cayenne to reduce the heat. When you are making the spice mix, you can adjust each seasoning to your taste preference. It is very customizable to your taste preferences.

Cajun Blackened Seasoning Fits into All Diet Plans

In addition, this Cajun Blackening Seasoning Recipe is healthy, low fat, low or no sodium, and fits into just about any diet plan.

Whether you are vegan, Paleo, gluten-free, or Keto, this Cajun Blackened Seasoning fits into your diet.
